Kathwood Friends and Family, It is a privilege to join together in worship this week. We are celebrating God’s mercy and considering how we are to ask for mercy, as well as how to humbly receive. In these days of turmoil and unknown, possibly we understand the need for mercy in new ways—our own need to seek mercy and our opportunity to be merciful. From the places of your greatest anxiety and pain, may you find hope and guidance through God’s merciful Presence. We are thankful for our worship leaders today. You will note their names within the Order of Worship. They bring joy and depth to our participation, as well as celebration as we recognize our community of faith gathered in praise and adoration. Blessings to each of you! We currently are having unexpected expenses related to the AC. Our Preschool had to close early on            Friday due to this. (It’s not related to our new equipment.) Mark your calendars for Park & Pray on Sunday, August 23, 8:30-9:00. Watch for more information. WATCH HERE: https://youtu.be/o1AzU-nM20E

Welcome to the first Sunday in August!  Hot days and stormy weather seems about right for this time of the year—we might even say normal!  Weekly worship is also normal and we are so grateful we can share this together. We continue our study of Jesus’ miracles, particularly stories that intrigue and inform. However we do not consider miracles normal, every-day or even every week occurrences. In our non-normal experiences these days, maybe we should open our minds to the possibility of miracles!  Miraculous acts that defy understanding, but offer life-changing spiritual lessons. Last week the lesson was the power of compassion. This week the lesson is the vast possibility  even a small amount of faith can offer. Such is the experience of Peter, who became one of the great leaders of the church. We are thankful for the blessings we will receive from our Kathwood choir, from Hayley and Westin, and from Diane and Donna. Worship is enriched by many voices. You may add your voice through song and prayer, or through inviting someone to join you. Hello Kathwood Friends! Glad you can join together in worship this week. We begin a new 3-week series focused on Jesus’ miracles, particularly 3 stories from the Gospel of Matthew. (Reminder: we are reading through Matthew this year. If you have not gotten started yet, it’s not too late!) When we read the miracle stories there is great drama to be experience. There are personalities and circumstances. The nitty-gritty of life and the joyful surprises of God’s Mysterious Presence. There is hopelessness and there is the miraculous. May we learn from these stories and though written long ago, find our places within them. Our music this week are wonderful gifts from our accompanist and our choir. More than anything, hearing them brings my heart together with you before God. Their spirits speak through their beautiful music. We are also grateful for Susan reading scripture and Timothy filling in for Juli and Donna this week! As we worship together today, may we encounter God and receive renewal for the week to come. Hello Kathwood Family and Friends! Thank you for joining in worship this week.  A note for the next few weeks—we will be looking to stories of Jesus’ ministry, for guidance in our daily living and for strength to make difficult choices. You are always welcome to share this video with people you wish to connect to our family of faith or with individuals who might resonate with the scripture or music of a particular week. Today we enjoy an anthem from Festival by the Sea 2019, an annual music festival organized by Burt Pardue, in which our choir participates. Voices from Cooperative Baptist Fellowship churches across the state join at the festival to sing praises to God. Enjoy this beautiful offering and know that our Kathwood Choir is singing . And as always, thank you to those who enhanced our worship through scripture readings and Children’s Lessons. Each week it is a privilege to worship together. It is also a privilege to BE CHURCH together the other 167 hours of the week! Welcome to Worship Kathwood! We continue in our Psalm Series, learning how to give thanks for the undergirding Presence of God in our lives. The variety of venues in this video remind us that wherever we are, we can worship God; and with intentionality and deep-seated desire, we can know that we worship together. In the Matters of the Church, you will be treated to a glimpse of our Book Give-Away! We enjoyed sharing books with over 30 people. We have no idea how many people donated books, but we are grateful that you did! The morning began with hundreds of books and when we ended, there were still lots of books! We will make certain they are distributed and let you know who the lucky recipients are. We are thankful for many people leading in this time of worship: You will recognize Kathwood people at the Book Give-Away (Timothy, Eural and Suzie, Sherry, Frances, Carolyn, and others), Donna, Robert, Cheryl, and Brant. Also in today’s video is a beautiful song, performed by several of Claire’s college friends. In three languages (English, Hebrew, Hindi) they sing to God. We are blessed by all our Kathwood musicians and grateful that they share their gifts of music with us. Join hearts and minds as we give thanks to God!
